Theoram Mark 1 began with a simple yet complex challenge - to rethink what a personal safety gun should look and feel like.

Treta Tactical Solutions, through their brand THEORAM, approached us with a vision to create India’s first compact non-lethal pistol, designed for law enforcement and riot control applications. Their brief was clear: the design should unmistakably communicate that it is not a lethal firearm, while still retaining the confidence and authority of a modern handgun.

In a market where global products like PepperBall and Byrna set the benchmark but remain unavailable and misaligned with Indian regulations, we saw an opportunity to build something purposefully for India rather than adapting existing systems.
Our approach began by rethinking and redesigning the ammunition itself to comply with Indian standards, ensuring the product is contextually relevant.

Simultaneously, we focused on defining a distinct identity for non-lethal defense tools within Theoram’s product lineup—moving away from aggressive firearm mimicry and toward a design language inspired by cyber militarism and modern parametric forms. The result is a product that feels tactical and precise, yet authoritative and approachable. This philosophy extended beyond form into function, where the internal architecture was carefully reworked to achieve balanced weight distribution and improved handling, while key interactions such as the placement and insertion of the CO₂ cylinder were reimagined to be more intuitive and rapid. The CMF strategy reinforced this balance through a muted, tactical palette, a combination of glossy and matte finishes, and material choices that enhance durability, grip, and long-term usability. Through multiple iterations and prototyping cycles, the design was refined across ergonomics, mechanical integration, and real-world usability, resulting in a product that brings together performance, clarity, and responsibility.

Theoram Mark 1 ultimately stands as a unique proposition within the non-lethal category, establishing a new visual and functional benchmark for defense solutions in India, balancing innovation with restraint and redefining how safety tools can be designed.
